Canterbury, one of the UK’s best emerging rock bands, were formed in Farnham, Surrey, by guitarist and vocalist Mike Sparks, bassist and vocalist Luke Prebble, guitarist James Pipe and original drummer Scott Peters (replaced in 2013 by Chris Velissarides).
After releasing their first record ‘Thank You’ for free in 2009, Canterbury put out their sophomore album Heavy In The Day via their own Sweet Lime Records in July 2012, reaching No.1 in the iTunes rock chart. The album, recorded with producer Peter Miles (We Are The Ocean) is something very special indeed. Storytelling lyrics, both light and dark, weave their way throughout the album, massive chorus’ and countless epic moments result in a huge sounding record.
Fantastic album reviews from the likes of Kerrang(KKKK) and Rocksound (9/10), and strong support at radio, helped build the band’s popularity through 2012/13; their own sold out UK tours and supports withYou Me At Six, The Blackout and Deaf Havana, has seen their fanbase continue to swell.
Now signed to Hassle Records (We Are The Ocean, Cancer Bats), with a new album set for release in January 2014 and further tours of the UK and Europe announced, 2014 is set to be their biggest year yet.
