Gunning For Tamar were drawing up plans in the early months of 2009, testing the waters and seeing what kind of a racket 4 young gentlemen could make with electricity & wooden sticks. September 2009 was the month when Simba was shown to the pride. They attacked the live scene both locally and further afield and received praise for the intensity of their live shows.

A Split EP recorded at Cold Room studios was released on 29th March 2010 with fellow Oxford band Phantom Theory on ‘A Mother Python Records’ and includes the two GFT tracks 'The Organs.The Senses.The Muscles.The Memories' and 'Norse Blood'.

Musically, you'll maybe find battles with time and song structure, whilst at the same time hear an emerging band clutching onto melodies with the claws of four young hawks. Oxfringe New Music Festival 2010 finalists, they have featured on BBC Introducing and recently been seen sharing stages with Norwegian heroes Ungdomskulen, James McCartney (of being made by Paul fame), Swanton Bombs, Sound Of Guns & The Winchell Riots.
