Electric River are an energetic group fusing elements of punk into a melting pot of rock and pop influences.
They have performed at many of London's finest venues such as The Barfly, The Water Rats, the Scala and played alongside 'The Pogues' Shane Macgowan at a recent aftershow party as well as selling out 600 capacity venue The Kings Hall, Herne Bay and 300 Capacity venue The Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury twice.
2011 has seen the band travel up & down the UK performing at 1000-3000 capacity festivals sharing their enthusiasm with festival go'ers & music lovers!
The core of Electric River was formed when Chris Aldis and Will Whisson both moved to Kent in 2003 from very different parts of the world. (Will from Singapore and Chris from London.) They met at a festival after only being in Kent for a matter of days and ever since then the writing partnership has continued.
Next to join the band is drummer Alex Mayland from Canterbury. At the age of thirteen, his willingness, and determination to pick up his instrument and relentlessly master it, gave perfect reason to warrant his position in the band.
Chris “Sponge” Rogers was added to the band when his previous band split up. Chris Aldis had been to see Sponge's band perform a number of times and thought he was a great performer and vocalist so took the opportunity to get him on board as well as take on the task of learning bass.
Electric River are a band with a message, and just as importantly, an energetic & fun live act.
