GuilFest 2011 - Lineup

The After Affect

Linda Serck BBC Introducing - Very tight band, packed with energy and great singing. Our favourite band and winners for this weeks demo panel.

In early 2008 a group of close friends heavily influenced by bands such as Alexisonfire, Funeral for a Friend and Reuben began sharing inspirational ideas musically.

Despite having no particular blueprint from the beginning the band grew, creating a more solid sound influenced by the likes of While She Sleeps, Architects and Deaf Havana. This leading to the local loyal following gained from their persistent energetic shows and well developed sound.

In late 2010, after a long elimination process of competitive heats, The After Affect went on to gain the title of Reading Battle of the Bands winners 2010. This led onto the launch of the new EP, “Treading Water” recorded at The Whitehouse Studios Reading, together with endorsements from Dovetail Strings and Knee Deep Clothing. The band are now working on their new record, which is due for release late summer 2011. Having now shared stages with many of the top local bands as well as support for Shadows Chasing Ghosts, the band have now progressed to headlining one of Readings top venues alongside having airplay on Newbury Sound and Blast FM. BBC Introducing, Berkshire began to show interest soon after and awarded them winners for the unsigned demo panel, judged by Linda Serck - BBC Introducing, Sean Hunt, Venue coordinator - Sub 89 and Sanjay Limbachya – Raw Linx.

The band are currently working hard with a diary crammed full of shows, with big news to be announced very soon.
