GuilFest 2011 - Lineup

Dirty Revolution

DIRTY REVOLUTION are a vibrant blend of punk rock, ska and reggae.  The Cardiff based 4 piece have been honing their own unique sound-clash tirelessly for the last two years.

E.P ‘It’s Gonnaget Dirty’ was released in Summer 2008 on Do The Dog Records.  Recorded on a tight budget in one day, it showcases the bands raw beginnings. Sales of the EP (still available from Do the Dog Records) have been solid since its release, gaining impressive reviews from ‘Big Cheese Magazine’, ‘Distorted’‘Punktastic’ and causing a stir on internet forums, ‘zines and blogs worldwide, receiving repeat airplay on Mike Davies’ BBC Radio One punk show 'The Lockup' and Wales’ own ‘Radio One Introducing in Wales.’

The band were soon gaining notoriety on the underground Punk scene in the UK and Europe, attracting the attention of Two Tone royalty:

“Excellent stuff…original Ska that's got something to say and not just a lot of fat, boozed up geezers, past their sell buy date, going through the motions!!! You all deserve a lot of luck and success... best wishes Pauline" Pauline Black – The Selecter

2009 saw the DIRTY REVOLUTION taking their sound on the road.  Live highlights include impressive sets at renowned UK festivals 'Strummercamp', ‘Shambala’ and legendary international punk rock festival 'Rebellion' in Blackpool.  In the past two years the foursome have shared a stage with a wide variety of bands including The King Blues, Sonic Boom Six, Sham 69, The Beat and The Skints. Touring with Ska heavyweights The Slackers and New York crust punks Star Fucking Hipsters has helped them evolve into a blisteringly tight live act who’s shows are fiercely uplifting.  After building a solid and still growing fan-base, ranging from traditionalist ska/reggae lovers and punk rockers to genre mash up appreciating youths, DIRTY REVOLUTION have now earned their rightful place in the UK’s thriving scene.

In Autumn 2009 the band began recording their debut album with Peter Miles (Sonic Boom Six, The King Blues, Howards Alias) at Holne Bridge studios.

A Limited edition of ‘Before the Fire’ was released on Rebel Alliance Recordings in March 2010 featuring bonus tracks and a vinyl effect CD.  It gained glowing reviews in the U.K music press and radio play from BBC Radio 6’s Steve Lemaq and BBC Radio 1s’ Mike Davies.

The full edition is due for release on the bands own label Dirty World Records at the start of August. To coincide with the release, DIRTY REVOLUTION will be playing a string of dates through the summer and paying a visit to Maida Vale Studios to record a live session for the BBC Radio 1 Punk Show.
“Dirty Revolution have produced an album which shines brightly amongst the current UK Ska/Reggae/Punk scene.  Reb’s vocals are a force to be reckoned with and when backed up by a fierce rhythm section, skanking guitar waves and a crystal clear production, it’s a combination which is electrifying.”

Big Cheese Magazine. 5/5

“A diverse collection of songs, dipping their toes into dub, reggae, ska and punk rock…the UK has a small collection of bands leading its punk and skascene in the right direction, Dirty Revolution are at the helm.”
