As I made my way towards the main stage I was impressed with actually how many people were flooding over the hill and down towards the stage, there were loads of them and as soon as those Scottish voices came bellowing over the PA and up towards me, I got that hair on the back of the neck feeling.

Sometimes a festival doesn't really start until you hear a song or vocal line that is instantly recognisable, and for me The Proclaimers delivered it. "When we go....la la la...a letter from America" ah, what a great moment.

It is fair to say the Proclaimers put on a good show mixing up the classic sing alongs that everyone loves with a few newer tracks from their forthcoming album, there was a real party atmosphere with people jigging around and looking as though they were thoroughly enjoying them and the sun.

Great show, great start to GuilFest - now bring on the Pogues!
