GuilFest World Air Guitar record attempt
Jeffrey Disaster - founder, compere and dis/organiser of the UK Air Guitar Championships is proud to present the official Guilfest 2005 Guinness Book of World Records' attempt for "LARGEST AIR GUITAR ENSEMBLE" on Sunday 17th, July 2005 on the main stage at Guilfest 2005.
Invited Air Guitar demonstrators: Farmer John [2004 UK Champion], Triple Slash [2003 Winners] and The Stunners International Sound System will lead the crowd through Gun's n Roses "Sweet Child O' Mine" - and 5 minutes 55 seconds later a new world record for "LARGEST AIR GUITAR ENSEMBLE" will exist.
LARGEST AIR GUITAR ENSEMBLE The following act as a guide to the specific considerations and undertakings, in addition to the general requirements, for any potential attempt on the 'Largest air guitar ensemble'. They should be read and understood by all concerned – organisers, participants and witnesses – prior to the event.
RULES This record is for an air guitar ensemble consisting of the most players, properly conducted under concert conditions. (Free or open-air recitals are acceptable.)
1. All members of the ensemble should be proficient musicians and they must be directed by an experienced air guitarist.
2. Should the participants not be proficient musicians, it is permissible to hold an air guitar lesson before the attempt. This lesson must be taught by an experienced air guitarist, preferably someone who has competed in the Air Guitar World Championships.
3. The person leading the ensemble must be an experienced air guitarist, and details of his qualifications must be submitted to Guinness World Records prior to the event.
4. A formal registration process should take place. The number of musicians is confirmed by individuals signing their own names once only on a form witnessed by two independent persons. No 'ditto' marks accepted.
5. As full a recital as possible should be given to be directly comparable with the original record but, if this is not practicable, a recognised pieces of guitar based music lasting at least five minutes should be performed.
6. Should more than one piece of music be performed a pause of no longer than 30 seconds is permitted between numbers.
7. Acoustic or electric air guitars may be played.
8. Improvisation is not permitted.
9. Sufficent stewards must be provided to ensure all participants are actively playing their air guitars for the duration of the rendition
10. Those participants deemed not playing sufficiently will be asked to stop playing and disregarded from the total count.
11. The name of the organisation, company or person(s) organising the attempt should be given along with the date and place.
