MAN PLANS A DALEK INVASION OF GUILFEST - BY HUGH FORT

A BRACKNELL man will be joining a Dr Who's Who of musical legends next month as he jumps in his time machine and heads to Guilfest. Chris Mountain, 49, from Great Hollands, will be patrolling the festival site in his very own replica Dalek affectionately known as Derek.

Since the announcement Derek has been bombarded with fan mail and Mr Mountain said how much he is looking forward to appearing. He said: "I'm a massive Status Quo fan so really pleased I will be at the festival. ”I am being paid to be at the event but really I would have paid to do it! "It's just unbelievable. We've got the Proclaimers, Marillion and The Quo all playing this year. "The great thing about the Guilfest is the brilliant friendly atmosphere, there is always a good turnout parents can take their kids there and I think there are seven stages this year.”It's great for local talent. "But Mr Mountain warned revellers at the gig that he and Derek would be, as he put it, mingling with the crowd and gave a chilling warning. He added: "Never tell me you were scared of Daleks as a kid, we will chase you."

It is as yet unknown whether Derek and Chris will be joining Parfitt and Rossi and co on stage as a few legal issues are still to be sorted out. Mr Mountain added: "There are a few insurance issues to be sorted for both us and them. ”I don't want to run over someone's priceless guitar and I'm also a bit worried someone might get carried away and chuck us off the stage."

Acts confirmed for the three-day event include The Pogues, the man known as The Modfather, Paul Weller, veteran singer Lulu, Echo and the Bunnymen and lovable Cockney duo Chas and Dave.
