Sometimes a change is as good as a rest; the members of indie/rock outfit SILVERSKY would agree.
Founder members Matt, Mike and Yo found themselves on the brink of quitting music altogether after the constant infighting
and 'musical differences' that were the hallmark of their time with the band Sourface. The trio left the band, but stayed close
friends. A year passed, but their undeniable chemistry and passion for making emotive, soulful music brought them back
together.
Once the decision had been made to make the most of their second chance, the trio were lucky enough to find the missing part
of the equation; John Sampson joined on bass, bringing new ideas, fresh energy and a much-needed sense of unity.
SILVERSKY were born.
“We weren’t the same musicians any more, and we wanted to show that by making a brand new start”, recalls Matt. “New songs, new sound. We have really merged all our influences and styles into something we all really believe in. We are SILVERSKY”.
In April 2001, their demo track ‘Waterfall of Words’ was chosen to appear on ‘The Matchbox Odyssey 2001’, a compilation album
of the best unsigned bands in Britain, released worldwide by Matchbox Recordings. An EP followed, and the band continued
to gig regularly, working hard to polish their live act. In July 2003, the band released their 3rd recording, 'The Gravity EP', a collection of truly stunning songs, with the exceptional ‘In My World’ featuring on 'The Chromium Records Showcase International 2004' album, which was again a worldwide release.
'In My World' encapsulates the bands’ song-writing ability: with a tune and lyrics that can move you to tears, underpinned with a rare
power and strength for a four-piece, and there is a firm belief within the band that the quality of the songwriting is the single most important thing.
The 4 members of the band have incredible chemistry, and are continuing to impress every time they take to the stage or enter
the studio, and since October 2004 have been working with top London-based production team 'The Animal Farm' to enhance
and develop their sound further.
The result of all this hard work is that 2005 looks to be the year SILVERSKY break through into the public eye.
Since January they have attracted interest from managers, agents, A&R scouts and record labels, as well as achieving 3 weeks’ airplay
on BBC London and confirming their first European gig dates in Ireland and France, performed at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire
(as part of the Breakthrough Weekender 2005 charity event) and secured an appearance at Guilfest 2005, with numerous other high-profile gigs and festival appearances over the summer.
Silversky; rocking with soul. A solid, water-tight unit, a mix of incredible individual talent and an awesome teamwork ethic
