Against all the odds, Ealing-based singer/ songwriter Mark Cochrane is breaking through London’s competitive music scene and creating quite a following for himself. Just a couple of months ago, leading XFM Radio DJ Steve Mason heard a rough demo and was impressed by Mark’s melodic acoustic sound and “Lazy vocal style” and “heartfelt lyrics”. Not long after, Mark was duly introduced to the music press at the XFM Rendition show in Holborn showcasing “London’s finest upcoming talent”. The hype started to hit off as Mark was booked up for more of the Rendition gigs over the next six months.
More recently of course, Mark was signed up to perform at the Guildford Music Festival (promoters having being bowled over by his classic track and every shepherd's favourite song “Red Sky”) alongside the likes of Paul Weller and Echo and the Bunnymen (albeit on a different stage)
Mark has recently hooked up with talented drummer Brian Connell. “I am really excited about the collaboration with Brian,” says Mark, “having his intelligent and passionate percussion behind the guitar makes the songs really come alive – playing the open mic circuit on your own is brilliant experience, which I will continue to do, a real chance to develop your songs and performance; but lets face it, everyone needs some rhythm”. He is excited about a new 4 track demo to be released mid July together with Brian.
