Since their inception in 2002, Jane Air have stamped an authoritative foot on the London rock scene. Almost immediately Jane Air made it to the final 5 of the first Xfm Unsigned competition. Not bad considering over a thousand bands entered the competition and Jane Air had yet to play live. The bands first proper gig was (somewhat bizarrely) supporting Desmond Decker at a scooter rally somewhere in Kent. Quite distressingly no one had told Jane Air it would be in front of 1,200 skinheads and clearly, no one told the skinheads about Jane Air. Luckily for the band the performance was a blinder and as a result, the skins let them live.
Following a brief stint of being managed by Duran Duran’s ex-manager, the next 12 months were spent hoofing it around London’s premier music venues building a reputation as a live act to be reckoned with. Quickly earning the right to become a headline act. Jane Air ended the year on a high with two very successful sell out shows at The Camden Underworld and the 1,000 capacity Rocket Complex, supporting The Complete Stone Roses.
During their time together Jane Air have written a cavalcade of songs and have recorded over 30… most of which can be downloaded for free on their website – www.janeair.com
Because of their reputation as an awesome live band and constant presence on the London ‘scene’ their website has enjoyed over 25,000 hits in under two years and over 2,000 unique song downloads last year alone!
2005 sees the band to continue to send out the message by stunning audiences, by continuing to write and record more songs and to document the year with video footage. Word has it that they’re being signed up to play at one of this year’s premier music festivals.
Watch out world, Jane Air are coming.
