Now in their 12th year, the Dreadzone Sound System has seen many different trends come and go as well as an ever changing line up which has ensured their sound has always stayed fresh and moved with the times, always remaining cutting edge and consistent in quality. Dreadzone were the originators of blending dub and reggae with house, breaks and ambient grooves at a time when it was experimentation, original ideas and the quality of tracks that mattered, not just the production as it is today.

Having notched up in excess of 125,000 album sales over a 10 year period, mixed in with running seminal club nights (including the legendary ‘Dubwiser’ parties) stunning live shows, releases through Creation, Virgin and Fingerlickin alongside support from Annie Nightingale, Ali B, Tayo, Seb Fontaine, Plump DJs and
the late, great John Peel the mighty Dreadzone have left a lasting impression on their ever growing fan base.

Back to 2005, original rockers Dreadzone Sound System featuring founder member Greg Dread alongside Ben Balafonic and the unmistakable M.C Spee drop the latest mix album to come through the South-West’s premier providers of the break beat sound - Functional Breaks. Once again fusing dub and reggae
with skankin’ breaks they deliver not only one of the tastiest breaks mixes around, but also providing new original material which will see the band drop their fifth artist album somewhere in mid 2005.

‘Beatz & Bobz Volume 4’ features some of the most up for it breaks party tunes around in D.S.S’ own imitable style which all point to the fact that it’s definitely 100% about the party, a true definition of the Dreadzone Sound System in full effect.
