Formed in the summer of 2004, Dogs In Transit have already made serious headway into their long-term goal of musically orientated global success. With their music showcased from the Czech-Republic to Croydon, these Leatherhead based boys are expanding far beyond the greasy reaches of ‘Botan Kebab’ into somewhat more exciting and exotic climes.
D.I.T. has been influenced by artists dating from a wide range of eras, each of which have their own contributing, but not dominating, input into the sound which they have let loose upon the world today. For example, Spooney (Drummer/Backing Vocals) takes his smooth syncopation from sixties Acid Jazz, complimented by the animated facial expression passed on from his one on one tuition by Steve Gilchrist (Drummer for Graham Coxon).
Ozzy (Guitar/Backing vocals) wields the guitar as a gladiator might his spear; simultaneously sending forth a visual display of mastery for one’s tool, and the satisfying feast for the ears that accompanies the work of the well trained hand. Ozzy does not however advocate violence.
Next up on the line-up is Rob on bass. Rob is one of the most talented musicians that Leatherhead has been lucky enough to claim part ownership of since Michael Caine lent his voice to the Italian Job theme tune, with the potential to go far in not only the rock world, but also in piano and indeed professional flute circles.
The main bulk of the vocals for D.I.T comes from the man they call Grundy. Mike to his friends, Hanoi Jane to his father, this man so exudes charisma that he could turn a truck load of amputees into chart-toppers in a fortnight, and still lead Dogs In Transit to their imminent success when they feel they’ve paid their dues. But Busted reunions aside, Grundy is the centerpiece of this otherwise asymmetrical band. Drawing heavily on the Beatles for how to play life, and the Libertines on how to play live (being careful not to emulate the wrong idols), Grundy finds a harmonious balance between part-time sobriety and half-hearted facial-hair maintenance.
Finally we have the mâché to the papier; the mortar to the bricks - Joe. Joe stands proud behind his keyboards keeping the band together with his skillfully interwoven, rock-organ edged counter-melodies. If there is only one thing to be said about him, it is this: like the band, he’s good at what he does.
Their first song was awesome!” – Nick Dent
“I do like a band that sounds British, and British they sound” – Tom Dudley
“Dogs In Transit have a sound that drives pop/rock down the darkest of alleyways and punches it in the face.” – Nigel Brown
“Do you wanna buy a dog?” – Random fan
