Former Skunk Anansie front woman Skin is back. She's got hair now, and a calmer, less angst-ridden take on life. Since splitting with the rest of the band, she's had some time to reinvent herself and it's a more contemplative version of her former self that emerges.

She performs a couple of the tracks that originally made Skunk Anansie famous. A slowed down version of 'Weak', for example, is a far more convincing portrayal of weakness and frailty than the angry, seemingly ironically titled original.

Similarly 'Just Because You Feel Good' is a calmer and more poignant reincarnation of its former self.

Predominantly though, she's here to showcase her new work - 'Fleshwounds' - an album which she describes as love songs, but mourning the loss of, rather than celebrating, love. She delivers these songs with a new self-awareness and honesty that's entirely moving.

But just for those fans who might be disappointed that Skin's lost her backbone, some more energetic numbers and a well-timed stage dive are included to let us know that her rock roots still live on.

Overall, you get the sense that Skin is much more herself, that we're getting beneath the surface of the skin so to speak. Perhaps it's time for her to change her name now… maybe Flesh or Blood or Bone or something?
