If you were one of the lucky ones who managed to get anywhere near the
front of the main stage for Alice Cooper - then I take a virtual bow and tip
my hat to you.
Alice Cooper was the perfect conclusion to Friday's lineup of acts who defiantly
shared a common rock feel. With a crowd stretching far back into the warm
night sky, Alice and his roaring vocal lines split the seeming tranquility
of the Guildford landscape.
The only thing to dampen the evening was its eventual end. As his anthemic set rolled ever closer to the strict Guildford curfew, even the legendary Alice Cooper had to obey its commands, leaving thousands of fans screaming for more well into the evening.
After the show Alice retired quickly to his tour bus and enjoyed a limited audience with a number of chosen fans and festival organisers. Despite some intensive begging and bribing your heroic interviewer was unsuccesful at getting an audiance with the man. However, I did see a certain Arthur Brown, the God of Hell Fire himself who was once quoted by Alice Cooper as being the inspiration behind his own show - sneak in past Alice Coopers security - if only I could have been a fly on the wall to that conversation.
