"bruised brilliance...never less than captivating" **** Uncut
"A daring, sometimes magical record.." Mojo

".the first essential record of the year." **** What's On in London

"..a supremely accomplished work.." Time Out

'Haiku', the second album from SONGDOG, has just been released on the Evangeline Recorded Works label to great reviews and is an intoxicating cocktail of afterhours Romantic lyricism and refreshingly spare, deftly shaded musicality. Twelve dark and beautiful tunes, an English take on afternoons on rainy Montparnasse boulevards, sleeping in late with a Juliette Greco lookalike. Sort of Quiet Days In Catford.

A track from 'Haiku' featured on the May 2003 Uncut covermount CD; the band recently performed two tracks from the album on Charlie Gillett's BBC London radio show.

Forthcoming dates include the Uncut stage at GuilFest and a headline show at the ICA in July. Earlier shows have included headline shows at the Metro Club and the Spitz, supports for Johnny Dowd (UK tour), Lift To Experience, Hamell On Trial and The Handsome Family, and appearances at the Sergey Kuryokhin International Festival in St Petersburg, Birmingham Songwriters Festival, Access To Amsterdam and Canada's NXNE Festival.

SONGDOG are based around vocalist/songwriter Lyndon Morgans and guitarist Karl Woodward (both from Blackwood, South Wales), with multi-instrumentalist Dave Paterson. Their 2001 debut album "The Way Of The World" received critical acclaim in the national daily press and music magazines; Uncut called it "..a compelling collection of dislocated, defiant and erotic songs that echo [their] principal influences - Brel, the Beat poets, Dylan, Leonard Cohen - without compromising the often startling originality of [their] own vision."
