Intervurt are a five piece rock band from South London who have been described by the press as similar to bands as diverse as U2, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode, Muse, Nine Inch Nails & many more quality acts, however, Intervurt are originals with there own defining sound. Think 21st Century rock, catchy melodies, great guitar riffs, dirty sounds and fat beats all brought together with live visuals and stage art for a stunning live show.
When Intervurt first got together they didnÕt know how they would develop or what the band would eventually sound like but what they did know was that they all loved great music. Time would tell if their individual styles, tastes and influences could be drawn together as they set about producing something fresh, exciting and distinctive.
Following months of experimenting in their own studio they emerged late in Ô99 and headed for LondonÕs West One Four to play the first Intervurt gig. They began playing regularly across the capital, quickly gaining a reputation as one of the finest new rock bands on the circuit.
Lead vocalist Paul OÕKeeffe h! ad already made a big impression with Empire (now The Darkness) and Chicane on the MCA label. Guitarist Mark Alberici and drummer Mark Brzezicki (Big Country) had both been part of the re-formed legendary, Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Oliver Alberici on keyboards and sequencers and Lee Wilton on bass completed the line up with Scott Richman on drums, later joining as replacement for Mark Brzezicki.
By the summer of 2000 Intervurt were walking on stage to full houses at major venues across the country including ShepherdÕs Bush Empire, Norwich UEA, Manchester Academy, Olympia Dublin and Glasgow Barrowlands providing a storming opening to Big CountryÕs farewell tour. To coincide with the tour they released a limited edition of their first EP ÔDevilsÕ on Track Records, which was picked up eagerly by press and radio. After! the tour the band went into Metropolis Studios in 2001 to record new material and in June 2002 Intervurt released their debut single ÔAbsentiaÕ, on the new independent label DÕEM UK, which was playlisted on SBN, Total Rock, Aire FM, Music Choice, XFM, plus a number of national and European stations. Between recordings at Metropolis the band shot material for their video with cutting edge design team Loftworks.
As IntervurtÕs reputation began to spread they were recommended to New York based manager Stephanie Reid, well known for her campaign work with artists including Rage Against the Machine, Blur, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis, Green Day, Nirvana, and many more. In 2003 Stephanie began working with the band after seeing their live showcase event and quickly put them into Eastcote Studios to record their second! EP and DVD ÔEmbargoÕ before returning to the US to promote the band stateside.
