IAN MCNABB releases 'Potency', a best of album on 28th June 2004 through Fairfield/distributed by Universal. About the release; 'He's a Genius' say Word magazine, 'Do yourself a favour, buy this' 4/5' Classic Rock. Available as a 15 track single CD, there is also a limited addition 15 track CD of b-sides, rarities and remixes available as part of the package.

"Well, this covers the 'ongoing' third phase of my musical life" says McNabb. "Phase one was the working as a kid and learning how to do it all. The second was with my first proper band, The Icicle Works. The fifteen songs I've compiled here represent what I choose to believe are my blossoming into what my dear old dad called a proper songwriter. I've always lived by a certain dictum when considering my role as an entertainer: Make them laugh, make them cry, scare them to death. Have I done this? I hope so."

'Potency' is a selection of McNabb favourites from 1993 to 2002, taken from the following albums; Truth & Beauty (1993), Head Like A Rock (1994), Merseybeast (1996), A Party Political Broadcast on Behalf Of The Emotional Party (1998), Ian McNabb (2001), Waifs And Strays (2001), and The Gentleman Adventurer (2002).

The collection features collaborations with Crazy Horse (Neil Young), Danny Thompson (Nick Drake/John Martyn/T.Rex), Mike Scott (The Waterboys), Jah Wobble (PiL) and Zak Starkey (The Who/Oasis). Ian McNabb is currently in the studio working on new material for his forthcoming seventh solo studio album, which is due for release in the autumn.
